For more than thirty-six years, Ray Brooks has been involved in technical education - first, as a student, then as an instructor, and now as a college president.

He earned a diploma in Auto Mechanics from Walker Technical Institute (now Northwestern Technical College) in his hometown of LaFayette, GA, and within a year, had received an AA in Liberal Arts from Dalton Junior College. He took his real-world training and education back to Northwestern to teach auto mechanics. After earning a Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate from the University of Georgia, Georgia State, and the University of Alabama, respectively, he began to build on his career at Northwestern; in 1986, he was named President. Ray retired from Northwestern early in 2008, and became the President of Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC, in March, 2008.
